Bloom 2013

I would like to thank everyone who went to the opening of our group exhibit, BLOOM Works by Women 2013!  The March 1 event was a reunion of sorts for the veteran BLOOMers, as well as a welcoming party for the 1st time participants.  There are 25 participating artists this year.

As I said during the opening program, I feel very happy to be invited once again by Aba Lluch Dalena to join Bloom.  I have been part of this annual exhibit celebrating the Women's Month of March for three consecutive years (starting in 2010).  It was really very inspiring to be surrounded by artworks by women of all ages.

My works (at the right side) are "Bilo-bilo" (orange) and "Bulan".

Those who missed the opening, I encourage you to catch the exhibit before it closes on March 14. Happy Women's Month!

Green Living feature :)

I just found this link today.  This was really a pleasant surprise at the beginning of this year. Thank you Ola Ceriola & the Green Living team! :)

I'm pasting the text below but please click the link:

True to her name, Sinag de Leon is indeed a ray of light as she serves as inspiration for many people. Her art embodies her nationalism and her passion for the environment.
Papercut art making has been a long lost Filipino folk art. This is mostly because making one piece of art takes a lot of patience. The intricacies of coming up with complicated patterns can only be mastered through creativity and constant practice.
Sinag tells us a story about her childhood as she is part of a family of artists. She learned papercut art making from a child craft book and through the encouragement of her father. As a growing woman, her parents showed her how beautiful our country is. This is coupled with her adventures as a triathlete and a mountaineer.
At present, her greatest mission is to show this appreciation through her art pieces. Just like her, every one of them is a pleasant surprise.

Some artworks + Bloom 2013

I will be posting photos of my artworks from time to time. The topmost is titled "Pulang-pula, 2"; the one in the center is called "Valley of the Red Moon" and the 3rd one is "Fine Day".  The last two artworks were inspired by the music of Diwa de Leon, and they were part of the "Memories on Two Strings" album launch (by Diwa) / papercut art exhibit event last Jan 2012.  (Photos of artworks by Paul Mondok.)

Meanwhile, I hope you'll look forward to our upcoming group exhibit, BLOOM Works by Women 2013!  It's opening on March 1, 6pm at Conspiracy Garden Cafe, 59 Visayas Ave., QC.  See the poster for more details.  :)

Sinag ArtFrames

Sinag ArtFrames are double frames featuring papercut art on one side, and a mirror or picture frame on one side. These may be custom-made according to theme, frame size and color, as well as the color of the paper to be used for the artwork. The papercut art is one-of-a-kind, as I do not repeat the designs that I make. I started making these in 2010.

To order, please contact me through email Thank you!

"Hi Sinag and Raya, malaking salamat sa masayang opening, one of our best full moon celebs. May our crossing paths inspire us to create more. Salamat"

Here's to more celebrations!!!
